The research consists in a quantitative survey through a QUESTIONNAIRE ON ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT addressed to students from the Spanish Master’s Degree in Architecture (which qualifies for accessing the regulated profession of architecture in Spain) during the 2020/2021 academic year. The questionnaire is aimed to assess, through the students’ perspective:
- Their level of competence related to architecture and sustainable development.
- The characteristics of the Bachelor’s degree in Architecture that they have studied, in relation to the particularities that define an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
- The extent to which their undergraduate studies in architecture have contributed to the acquisition of these competences.
Additionally, it will collect some data about their academic, professional and personal background.
The presentation of the questionnaire and the distribution of the access codes is done in school time (in classroom or online). However, the questionnaire is filled outside school time, and the participation of the students is anonymous and voluntary.
The design of the questionnaire is based on numerous precedents, among them, we can highlight the results of the EDINSOST project, in the field of competencies for sustainability, and the work of the Sectorial Sustainability Commission of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE -Sostenibilidad, in its Spanish acronym), both in the field of competencies for sustainability and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
